We are looking for Electrical Engineer/Onshore Substation Engineer with relevant experience required immediately to work in the Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Dundalk offices.
Responsibilities: Extensive experience on design and review of Primary plant layout, cable arrangements, Earthing, Lightning, compound and indoor lighting, Instrument transformer sizing, Protection schemes and IED selection, C&P Panel design, AIS busbar and connector detailed design and review for HV substations.Providing engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructural development projects through various lifecycle stages from feasibility/front end engineering stages to detailed design/site construction monitoring and commissioning.Coordination with client project teams and internal team disciplines within AtkinsRéalis including civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection and control, and CAD/BIM team.Undertake a full design review of drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure compliance with the applicable standards and industry guides.Understanding of HV Plant design calculations such as Instrument transformer suitability calculations, Battery and charger calculations, Surge arrester selection, Busbar forces calculation, HV Cable design, Earthing studies, Insulation and protective relay coordination, Arc flash studies.Strong understanding of Major HV plant equipment including but not limited to AIS and GIS platforms, Circuit breakers, Power and House transformers, Disconnector and earthing switches, Control and protection panels, Metalclad switchgears, Protective and control devices.Prepare and monitor technical submittals for approval by the client.Review and provide attendance during construction and commissioning stages of the project.Key Requirements: Experience working in the power transmission and distribution industry.Qualified to degree level and will ideally be, or working towards Chartered Engineer status.Experience of all stages of project lifecycles.Experience in applying regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements to HV plant system designs.Experience in the preparation of technical reports in English.A Level 7, 8 Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Services Engineering or Building Services Engineering.Knowledge of key engineering software packages such as Dialux or Relux, Amtech, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office are essential.
