Job Description This is a 12-month contract.Job Purpose An Electrical/Instrument Craftsperson is an individual who performs troubleshooting, inspection, installation and repair of a variety of primary electrical/control equipment and systems across the site. Electrical Instrument Craftsperson's will work on days within the Operational Engineering department. The role entails operation and maintenance of a number of utility systems and production equipment on site, such as:
Break down maintenance.Planned/ preventative/ predictive maintenance.Utilities maintenance.Clinical and Commercial manufacturing modules maintenance.Key Responsibilities Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as inspecting, replacing components on schedule.Testing and adjusting a variety of primarily electrical/control equipment and systems.Responding to breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing, adjusting and calibrating a variety of primarily electrical/control and systems.Overhauling, cleaning and/or replacement of defective parts.Carries out calibrations as per the site procedures.Providing engineering support to production.Operation, monitoring and maintaining various utility systems and building management systems.Developing and/or delivering training to craftspersons and apprentices.Participating in multi-functional and inter-site teams as required.In the role of craftsperson, there are a variety of other, ad hoc responsibilities that may be assigned.Understanding that all tasks require a work order and depending on the complexity of task, a permit may also be required. Completion of work is documented under work order notifications with appropriate detail once the work is complete.Understanding that if during maintenance something outside of standard should be reported for further investigation.Problem Solving, Behaviours & Interpersonal Skills Good interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus are important for the role.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrate behaviours in line with the company values.Participate in investigations /Root Cause Analysis as required.Excellent planning and organisational skills.Quality & Environmental, health and Safety (EHS) Responsibilities Read and understand relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Policies and GSOPs applicable to role.Attend training and complete assessments as required.Perform duties in a compliant manner and behave in accordance with site SOP's, Quality Systems, EHS standards and guidelines and relevant legal requirements. e.g. Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work.Report all accidents, incidents and any EHS issues using the appropriate process in a timely manner. Engage with safety investigations as required to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions.Requirements: Completion of a state-recognised apprenticeship as a time-served craftsperson.Current, working knowledge of site and industry standards regarding Good Engineering Practice.Familiarity with engineering operations policies, systems, and procedures.Understanding of the organisational structure and maintenance needs of other departments.Knowledge of the location and maintenance needs of major plant items and utility systems.Experience maintaining primary equipment and systems.In addition to a competitive remuneration package, annual incentive plan bonus, and healthcare benefits, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers outstanding career and development prospects.
