Electronics Engineer The Electronic Engineer or Embedded Systems Engineer (Firmware & Hardware) role is a new position in a fast-growing human health diagnostics company based in Sligo. You will support both R&D and Operations related activities. As a key member of the team, you will participate in development, manufacturing transfer, and market support activities related to an embedded handheld medical device.
We are seeking a highly motivated and self-managing engineer with experience working in customer-focused commercial environments. The role will require you to join a tight-knit team to develop and manage products for a growing customer base.
Ideally, you will have experience in the development of electronic devices and instruments with a strong knowledge of integration of components including sensors and microcontrollers. Firmware experience is essential, and knowledge of PCB design is important. Experience with wireless technologies such as Bluetooth is required.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and implementation of embedded devices from the requirements stage to manufacture and commercialisation.Plan, design, develop and conduct tests on electronic and mechanical assemblies coming from third parties.Design, develop, code, test and debug software.Provide post-production support and advise customer-facing colleagues.Work with production to optimise manufacture and to identify alternative components as required.PCB design experience with a good understanding of design concepts and component selection.Modify designs as required to correct operation deficiencies/reduce production issues.Identify use errors and difficulties and provide expertise in the evaluation of root cause analyses in both product development and on-market product troubleshooting.Strong understanding of signal processing technologies.Skills & QualificationsDegree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering/Software/Mechatronic.3+ years of experience.A high degree of technical knowledge balanced with creative ability and a hands-on approach.Hands-on experience in the development and troubleshooting of embedded devices.Programming experience.Ability to modify and update current firmware.Experience with Embedded Linux, iOS, Android.Experience working with third-party vendors, contractors, and collaborators.Good written and verbal communication.Competitive salary on offer plus the opportunity to be part of an early-stage start-up business with huge potential and a team who have been successful in launching top new products in the past.
