12 month fixed term contract, on site position in Anngrove, Cork Position SummaryThis role performs professional engineering work in the conception, specification, design, manufacture and testing of medical device packaging. Work with design teams & suppliers by managing the process and the development of new packaging solutions. This includes creating packaging solutions for changes, conceptual design, process development, process deployment, process validation, continuous improvement initiatives, continuing production support, and supplier development, as well as the packaging, shipping, and transportation testing required for both sterile and non-sterile packages. Help lead in the development of Standard Operating Procedures which govern the development of product packaging.
What you will do:Development and management of Packaging Procedures; develop design rules and guidelines considering performance, cost, and reliability.Develop advanced packaging designs from concept to final release including CAD documentation.Create and maintain component specifications for all primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging and develop, conduct, and analyze the testing of this packaging.Interfacing with internal product sustaining engineering team to define package design solution; manage multiple projects to meet established timelines.Develop an understanding of Stryker package manufacturing processes; identify viable primary packaging options and alternatives, defining technical parameters.Development of secondary shipment packaging.Represent JR in corporate initiatives to develop standards for packaging verification and validation, as well as other topics related to packaging and labeling.Write or contribute to risk management document relative to package, in coordination with the project team.What you will need:1 - 3 years of hands-on experience in Medical Device packaging design and development.BS/BA or equivalent, in a technical field such as Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.Detail-oriented with excellent communication and project management skills; demonstrated knowledge of QSR and medical device packaging systems; medical device industry experience is strongly preferred.Travel Percentage: 20%
