About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team at Shillelagh.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will oversee the engineering, site maintenance teams, and external contractors.
Your key responsibilities will include managing the maintenance of our site, services, and facilities, ensuring that costs are effectively controlled, and budget targets are met.What You Will Be DoingDevelop, implement, maintain and regularly review a strategic development programme of the site infrastructure, process and production capability, developing capital investment plans as required.Deliver capital investment improvements through the projects team to agreed timescales.Effectively manage all site and legislative requirements for equipment, pressure systems, lifting equipment, etc.Provide detailed reports on asset performance and condition and maintain accurate maintenance records.Ensure financial controls and departmental systems and processes are followed and meet all internal / external audit requirements.Plan activities and resources to ensure that work is completed on time, cost and quality.
Take a broad view of resource planning and build effective contingency plans.Effectively communicate information and provide both written and verbal reports to peer group and senior team.Determine and implement the departmental budget process to ensure that required resources are obtained and controlled.Liaise with contractors to assess the quality and performance of their work to ensure correct standard are maintained.Administer and manage the permit to work system.Evaluate new equipment for critical and base stock requirements.Develop and implement new approaches to achieve continuous improvement and actively encourage, organise and apply lean techniques and processes.Develop and maintain a strategic succession plan for the department.Use systems in place to identify critical spares, ensuring sufficient information is gathered to enable informed decisions to be made with reference to stock holding.Evaluate data from Holistech to identify MTBF and put in place a robust maintenance plan to minimise failure.Effectively manage waste streams to company and legislative requirements.Understand environmental impacts and how those impacts can be reduced or eliminated.What You Will NeedDegree (or equivalent) in an Engineering-related subjectFood Safety Level 3HACCP Level 3Previous engineering management experience within a food manufacturing environment.Proven track record of managing large teams and diverse technical and engineering activities.Experience of developing and implementing capital expenditure plans.Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.Proven track record in cost control, health and safety and management of quality systems.Knowledge of legislative and environmental controls relating to the safe use of plant and machinery.Proven track record in management and implementation of PPM CMMS based management systems.Able to cope under pressure and flex with peaks in personal workload.Able to use, create, understand, and act upon trends from management operating systems.
