Job Description We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Ocular Implant team in Westport .
This position reports to the Associate Director - Implants.
This is a newly created position, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and develop an engineering team with the emphasis on ensuring the highest levels of product quality, continual operational improvements, and employee development.
Roles and Responsibilities Establish the department goals, schedules, and timetables for activities.
Build and develop an engineering team to deliver high end performance metrics in terms of both manufacturing output and continuous improvement.
Identify and implement manufacturing equipment continuous improvement plans.
Maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Completion of Preventative Maintenance on manufacturing equipment and instrument calibration as per schedule.
In conjunction with calibration coordinator ensure compliance with calibration requirements.
Assist with the management and support of manufacturing equipment development.
Project manage new installations and modifications to existing equipment.
Prepare capital expenditure requests for plant and ensure that budgets are within target.
Negotiate cost / quality effective external contracts.
Develop and report on monthly engineering metrics and issue management reports as requested and on time.
Supervise external contractors.
Ensure safety standards are met, and safe working practices are adhered to.
Implement all relevant policies relating to Personnel, Quality, Engineering & Safety.
Undertake specific investigations, and equipment monitoring, with a view to improving manufacturing performance e.g., reducing plant downtime and maximizing Plant output and yield.
Perform investigations as result of non-conformance events.
Prepare appropriate CAPA plans and implement timelines.
Re-design elements of manufacturing machinery to adapt to process conditions to improve efficiency where required.
Ensure successful external, Division and Corporate audits.
Cross train in manufacturing engineering Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant area.
Minimum of 7 years experience with 2+ years in equipment design/development/project engineering roles and 5+ years as a Manufacturing Engineer.
Previous experience managing automation projects from generation of URS to SAT an advantage.
Familiarity with a maintenance excellence management system such as Maximo or similar.
Membership of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland (IEI) is desirable.
