Amazon is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this team works to ensure that the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems (MEP) operate at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.
The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is Amazon's front-line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation and responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure within the data center environment in a specific location. The role requires a highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to complex technical problems. This position requires frequent site interventions, critical switching activities, along with troubleshooting and fixing infrastructure issues. The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a 'hands on' capacity on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) infrastructure such as diesel generators, switchgear, UPS's, PDU's, Chillers, Pumps, AHU's, fire detection systems and building automation systems.
Key job responsibilitiesEnsure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing workOperate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipmentTroubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLAsPerform limited maintenance, repair and audits tasksTake daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)Manipulate small wires and objectsDrive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilitiesCollaborating effectively with internal & external stakeholders to deliver operational excellenceUtilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventorySupervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenanceDraft, update & maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation pertaining to DCEOFully comply with all physical security procedures and policiesPhysical Requirements:Walk job sites in uneven terrainWork in extreme climatesWork at heights and from laddersBend or twist the body into unusual positions while workingPush or pull heavy objects into positionWork in noisy environmentsWork a shift rotation (24/7)Minimum Requirements:Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical/Mechanical field and 1+ years of critical infrastructure maintenance or operation experience on mechanical or electrical systems in a mission critical environment (i.e. Data Center, telecom, Oil and Gas Plant, etc.)Good English verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrate key electrical and/or mechanical competencies (Practice & Theory)Basic knowledge of mechanical systems (Chiller, HVAC systems, Controls)3+ years of Data Center Engineering Operation experience and on-call support for Data Center facilities/or Mission Critical Plants/Production facilities.Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant disciplineWilling to travel between Data center sites, and internationally if requiredAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
