Our Engineering Operations Managers (The Facility Operations Manager) are responsible for managing a team, overseeing best-in-class operations and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure for data centers in the AWS Cloud region. They are self-managed individuals who demonstrate an initiative mindset, proactively seek solutions to problems, and strive for operational excellence.
In this role you will:SafetySet and maintain the highest standard for safety and promote a world-class safety culture.PeopleHire, manage, develop, and coach a team of line-level facility staff.Collaborate with other team managers including Finance, Safety, HR, and Recruiting.Manage vendors and vendor contracting negotiations.Operations and MaintenanceManage electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.Implement strategic preventative maintenance and corrective break-fix planning on mission-critical infrastructures. Review and approve equipment maintenance and repair processes and procedures, and tactfully drive continuous organizational change management.Prepare for and manage the team through facility infrastructure incident management plans, including event planning, drill coordination, escalation, incident mitigation, and post-event reporting and follow-up.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSAn engineering degree or equivalent4+ years of relevant engineering experience managing large-scale servicesAt least 2 years of team management experienceProven track record of success in delivering complex projectsPrior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or productPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSData Center Engineering or Mission Critical Facility Management/Engineering ExperienceDegree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant disciplineProject Management ExperienceCapacity planning and budgetary experienceAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
