Position Description The EMS Manager will be a member of the Planning & Environmental (P&E) Group within the Engineering & Major Projects (EMP) business unit. The successful candidate will manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO14001 certification and will provide EMS and related environmental services across the ESB Group. EMS Manager is a crucial role in ensuring a consistent approach to environmental management and performance in EMP and in the embedding of EMP's sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities Management, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS), the co-ordination of its operation and management of related ISO14001 Certification.Ensuring that EMS processes and procedures to manage environmental risk and environmental governance issues are produced, disseminated, and communicated across EMP.Ensuring EMP staff are notified and briefed as required on EMS requirements.Provide EMS and general environmental awareness training to the EMP, and as required the wider ESB project delivery community.Reporting to Senior Management on the performance of the EMS.Provide EMS and related environmental consultancy to P&E Group clients, including other business areas across ESB Group.Support the management of the legal compliance registers of ISO certified environmental management systems throughout ESB Group.Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant environmental legal and regulatory requirements.Inform and maintain the contractor environmental requirements and related documentation to support project delivery procurement processes within EMP.Manage the programme of internal auditing of EMP activities.Knowledge, Skills and Experience The successful candidate must have:
Minimum 7 years' experience in the area of environmental management, environmental legislation, and ISO14001 certification.A strong understanding of the environmental regulatory requirements in Ireland.Demonstrated experience in the development and successful ongoing certification of environmental management systems within large organisations with a diverse range of operational and project activities.A professional manner with strong inter-personal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels and deliver high-performance results.Strong stakeholder management skills and proven track record of managing internal and external stakeholders.A proven track record of implementing Environmental Management Systems within the construction sector.A strong understanding of the environmental regulatory requirements in the UK.A strong knowledge of environmental legislation pertaining to the development and construction of large infrastructure projects, including in the marine environment.Good knowledge of contract management.Full drivers' licence and access to a car.Qualifications Level 8 Environmental or Science Degree or equivalent qualification.Level 9 Engineering or Science Degree or equivalent qualification.Chartered status in a recognised professional institution.Location Your base will be at one of our offices situated at One Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate Cork, but the role may require a certain amount of travel within Ireland (and periodically to Northern Ireland and Great Britain) as required.
