Position Overview: Virgin Media News is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Producer for our flagship current affairs programme, The Tonight Show.
The Executive Producer will be responsible for setting a robust editorial agenda, leading the production team, and outputting live programmes.
Forward planning engaging topics with expert panelists representing both sides of the argument will be crucial, as will developing relationships with relevant stakeholders including outside agencies, political parties, and panelists.
Specific Duties & Tasks: Leading a production team in the preparation and management of high-quality journalistic programming that resonates with the VMTV audienceGenerating ideas for topics and guestsBooking contributors for panel discussions & one-on-one interviewsEnsure compliance with all relevant broadcast regulations and guidelinesPlan for special events such as elections and budgetsLine managing staffProduction team training and developmentManage programme budget, purchase orders, and invoicesMonitor ratings and audience feedback and adapt to trendsSourcing and posting digital news content from TV programmes to online platformsOther newsroom duties as assigned by the Head of NewsSkills & Expertise: Extensive experience working in current affairs in television/radioThorough knowledge of the Irish political landscapeA strong contacts bookA strong understanding of defamation lawGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work under pressure as part of a busy team and meet deadlinesAbility to work flexible hoursExceptional organisational skillsKnowledge of digital news productionThe Person: A dynamic and decisive leader with a track record of delivering high-quality, engaging content in a live broadcast environmentCreative thinker with a focus on bringing fresh ideas and innovative approachesStrong commercial awareness, capable of balancing creative decisions with revenue-generating opportunitiesThrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and able to make quick decisions when neededExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships across diverse teams and stakeholdersPassionate about serving and understanding the audience, tailoring content to meet their needs and preferencesCollaborative team player who can unite talent, crew, and wider teams toward common goalsAdaptable, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and a drive toward continuous improvementVirgin Media is an equal opportunities employer.
