About the roleWe are looking for an experienced Public Policy expert to build relationships with external stakeholders, develop compelling policy papers, and engage in regular outreach to drive progress in AI policy and AI safety, drawing upon established relationships with key policymakers and their staffs in Brussels.
You will manage our engagement with the European Union, supporting AI Act implementation and the Codes of Practice process.
You will also collaborate with Policy colleagues on a variety of other projects, including analyzing policy proposals, drafting submissions for public comment, and strategic campaign planning to amplify Anthropic's policy presence.
This role is crucial to advancing Anthropic's mission in the EU, shaping AI governance to balance safety, innovation, and European competitiveness.
This is a Brussels based role.
Responsibilities:Develop and advocate for Anthropic's positions on key issues within the Codes of Practice, including regulatory frameworks that ensure commercial viability while advancing Anthropic safety prioritiesMonitor and report on Member State positions; provide regular insights on the evolving positions of key EU bodies regarding AI regulation and safety standardsIdentify opportunities to leverage Anthropic's technical expertise in novel ways, such as offering hands-on experiences with our AI systems to demonstrate safety capabilitiesCultivate relationships with key policy and political partners in the EU AI policy ecosystem; support Anthropic in executing strategic policy engagements or events with peer companies or aligned organizations (trade and expert groups)Collaborate with Policy and cross-functional teams on strategic engagements (e.g., bilaterals, workshops, informal events, etc.)
that advance Anthropic's mission and goals with policymakers, think tanks, and other external stakeholdersSpot emerging trends or policy discussions where Anthropic can have impact; coordinate policy campaigns for new research, product launches, and other topicsYou may be a good fit if you:Have 5+ years of professional experience in government, technology, legal, and/or other policy-relevant environmentsHave a track record of effective, information-rich advocacy with EU government regulatory authoritiesEnjoy drafting and executing complex policy campaigns that move the needle on legislative actionThrive when engaging with policymakers, civil society, and think tanks to translate complex technical topics into accessible and relevant informationExcel at translating high-level vision into executable operational plansHave demonstrated an ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical areas and policy dynamicsAre deeply curious about frontier technological research and are eager to work closely with technical colleagues to translate new discoveries into policy outcomes
