Job Title: Family Support Worker / PA (variable hours) Children Services
Location: Co Galway
Reporting to: Co-ordinator of Personal Assistant Services / Outreach Respite Manager
Overall Purpose of the Post:
To provide personal assistant support to children to enable them to participate in the community, achieve person centred goals and facilitate inclusion.
The Personal Assistant will provide practical, personal and social support to the individual they work with.
Flexible regarding working hours: afterschool / evenings and Saturdays / school holidays on return of hours basis as required.
Duties: · Assist individual service user with person centred goals in the home or community
· Enable service users to participate in community activities by providing the required assistance and support
· Provide support in educational or work assignments as required
· Assist individual service user with therapy exercises as required
· Personal assistance in the areas of toileting, eating, dressing and transferring as required
· Facilitate in social and leisure activities as required
· Participate in training as required
· Any other appropriate duties which may be assigned
Requirements: The person in this post will:
· Be expected to honour and respect the diverse requirements of both individuals, families and groups using the service
· Work as part of the team within the service, will be reliable and professional in their work
· Respect the confidentiality code at all times
· Follow policies and codes of practice of the organisation
· Be flexible in relation to working arrangements, duties and location
· Work under direction of the Service User / family per service agreement and report to the PA Coordinator/Outreach Respite Manager
· Record workload and maintain required documentation on intervention, activities and tasks completed during work session
· Some positions may require transport provision.
In these cases the applicant must hold a full clean driving license.

Probation: A probationary period of six/nine months (as relevant to post status) applies to this post.
Salary: The current salary scale for this post is €30,163 – €36,502
– based on 39 hour week pro-rata
(Payment on Return of hours from €16.06 - €19.44 per hour
Annual leave: Annual leave entitlement is 10.7% of Hours Worked.
Pension Scheme: Enable Ireland operates a contributory pension scheme which all members of employees may join on earlier of 1st July or 1stJanuary following start date.
Medical: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical assessment.
VHI: Enable Ireland operates a group VHI scheme which you may join.
Garda Clearance/ Police Clearance: These will be required for all prospective employees who will undertake relevant work or activities relating to children or vulnerable persons.
Sick Pay:
(If applicable) All periods of sickness exceeding two days must be medically certified with a maximum of six uncertified days in any 12 month period.
Weekly medical certificates are required thereafter.
The Company reserves the right to have you examined by its own Doctor after 3 months continuous sick leave.
Upon completion of 9 months continuous service with the Company sick pay will be as follows:
Full pay less social welfare for the first 13 weeks of sickness in any 12 month rolling period and half pay less social welfare for a further (13) weeks of sickness absence in the same 12 month rolling period
