We have an excellent opportunity for a highly self-motivated and genuine team player to join the team at Flemings Farm, Liscarroll, County Cork, as Farm Supervisor.
Under the guidance of the Farm Manager, and deputising for him when required, you will supervise the operational activities of the farm, providing care and rehabilitation for all animals and maintain the buildings, land and fencing in accordance with the Care and Welfare Code of Practice.
About you: Previous supervisory experience.Experience of animal husbandry (preferably working with equines), understanding individual behaviour patterns and overcoming challenges.Excellent observation skills and the ability to identify and notice signs that would indicate ill health in equines.Able to demonstrate the ability to make good decisions under pressure and deliver on deadlines.A true team player.Full valid driving licence.About the role: Your principal duties and responsibilities will include:
Ensuring effective day-to-day supervision of the farm, including all aspects of staff and donkey care and welfare in line with The Donkey Sanctuary policies and practices.Supporting the Farms Manager to recruit, develop and support the farm staff, setting objectives, coaching and developing the team to fulfil their potential, and performance managing where necessary.Providing advice, instruction and induction training to farm staff and ongoing training, as required.
Ensuring all staff are aware of, and abide by, health and safety regulations.Prioritising and delegating tasks on a daily basis to ensure smooth operational running of the farm, and ensuring staff are making best use of their time and focused on delivery of objectives that support the wider strategy for farms.Assisting with arranging 7-day operational cover for the farm.Supporting and assisting the Farms Manager with the planning of Donkey Sanctuary events that require farm teams' input.Supervising work activities on the farm, including close working with, and monitoring of, service providers such as farriers and EDTs.What we offer: This is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible, working 39 hours per week.
The working pattern will be agreed between the Line Manager and post-holder, but flexibility will be required for weekend working.
