Financial Analyst, An Post Commerce - Clerical Manager 1 Level - TemporaryJob PurposeThe role will suit an ambitious and results driven finance professional, with ability to develop and progress within the organisation. Key tasks will be to generate reliable and accurate data/reports on a weekly/monthly basis, which measure and promote financial and cost control performance of An Post Commerce, assuring the integrity of financial results and ensuring the effectiveness of internal cost controls and compliance with all statutory obligations. This role has a strong emphasis on budgetary control and will report to the Senior Finance Manager – Final Mile Operations & General.
ResponsibilitiesThe principal responsibilities associated with the role include, but are not limited to:
Consolidating Final Mile Operations information requirements; generate the weekly Key Performance Indicators and issue to the appropriate level, on a timely basis, escalating issues/variances.Engagement with the Final Mile Operations Management Team & Regional Finance Managers providing detailed information on pay hours' performance – in order to effect change and embed operational ownership.Monitoring closely Delivery Service Unit (DSU) hours performance following office go live/other changes and continue verification to ensure pay hours in line with targets.Providing support to Final Mile Operational Management in relation to ad-hoc requests for information and advice on how to best generate information from systems, circulating information and providing training related to new processes and procedures.Compiling & controlling returns from various sources within An Post Commerce, producing consolidated data/results and escalating issues or variances.Monthly An Post Commerce Pay Tables/Pay Accruals, Non Pay Accruals and other month end processes, including journal preparation/posting & month end analysis.Actively support Non Pay budget holders to achieve budget – communicating any variances versus budget in a timely fashion and providing training on how to review Non Pay data on An Post's Business Intelligence tool (APBI), as required.Participate in An Post Commerce annual pay, non-pay & capital budget process. Contribute to the forecasting process as required. Provide feedback and improvement where possible to budgeting/forecasting process.Participation in IT systems development, testing and training, as required. Contribute to ongoing development of APBI and Answers with a view to creating new value-adding queries/dashboards.Ad-hoc queries and projects as required, especially in relation to business changes.Training of cover on above role and in areas where Financial Analyst is one of the key sources of process and business knowledge. Providing cover for and assistance to colleagues within the Finance team as required.Advocating and actively demonstrating An Post core values and behaviours.Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will be a qualified/part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). You will have at least 2 years work experience in Performance or Financial Management.
You will have the ability to systematically gather, monitor, analyze and report on performance and trends within an operational environment. You will be a flexible, independent problem solver with excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) and the ability to make informed decisions within tight timelines.
Advanced Excel skills are critical to this role. You will have a detailed knowledge of An Post's Financial & Operational reporting systems or the ability to acquire this quickly.
