Louth County Council is the authority responsible for local government in Louth.
The county of Louth is divided into the three municipal districts of Drogheda, Ardee and Dundalk.
There are five electoral areas in Louth: Ardee, Drogheda Rural, Drogheda Urban, Dundalk-Carlingford and Dundalk South.
There are 29 elected county councillors and an annual operating budget of 171.7 million in 2024.
The Council provides a diverse range of services across a large geographic area.
Key services areas include housing delivery, planning and development, emergency services, infrastructural upgrades and projects (road improvements, public realm), community services and facilities (community/leisure centres, libraries and parks), encouraging economic development through FDI (foreign direct investment), and supporting existing and new business.
Duties 1.
Be a working Foreman at any of Louth's depots anywhere across county.
2.
Be required to carry out their duties as directed in any location in the County.
3.
Report to the General Services Supervisor/Area Engineer of the Area they are working in at the time.
4.
To direct Ganger/s, Craftsmen, drivers, general operatives and hired plant on works in his/her charge, completing records (written and digital) of materials, plant and labour as requested by G.S.S./Area Engineer in relation to such works 5.
To liaise with and supervise work carried out by contractors/sub-contractors engaged by the local authority.
Keeping digital and written records necessary in relation thereto as directed by G.S.S./Area Engineer eg site safety checks, vehicle checks, time sheets, incident reporting-all in digital format, 6.
He/She should maintain a personal written and digital daily diary, which can be inspected at any time.

To be responsible for the custody of all materials, tools and equipment in connection with his/her work and the keeping of written and digital records necessary in relation thereto.
8.
To deal with members of the public in a courteous, prompt and efficient manner, investigate complaints when deemed necessary and to keep the G.S.S./Area Engineer informed of such dealings.
9.
To drive local authority transport for the purpose of delivery and collection of men and material to sites under his/her direction.
10.
Be required to avail of modern digital and written communications, such as computer, laptop, tablet, smart phone, and/or mobile phone, as directed.
11.
To participate in all training provided by the local authority and directed by management.
12.
To operate and implement new digital equipment and latest software eg Tablet (handheld unit) and latest technology evolution as required by management.
13.
To deputise for a General Service Supervisor as required.
14.
To see that proper safety procedures are in use on his/her site i.e.
proper signage of road works, safety equipment/ personal protective equipment to be worn etc.
All training will be provided.
15.
To report any disciplinary matter (non-attendance, punctuality, etc) to the G.S.S./Area Engineer.
16.
To carry out any other supervisory duties as required from time to time by the G.S.S./Area Engineer.
17.
Must be available for outside normal working hours as required, to direct overtime work and/or emergency work, for a reasonable period of time, determined by the General Services Supervisor or Area Engineer.
18.
Any other duties as may be assigned to the employee from time to time by the local authority and shall include the duty of deputising for other officers of the local authority, when required, and such duties as may be assigned to him/her in relation to the area of any other local authority.
You shall perform such duties appropriate to your grade as may from time to time be assigned to you in relation to your employment and as may be appropriate to any particular function of any Council for which the Chief Executive is responsible and carry out such instructions as may be given in relation to the performance of your duties.
The work will be carried out in accordance with established work practices or as negotiated from time to time.
Person appointed will be required to report to work location at the location notified to him/her by the supervisor.
Employees must attend at all training courses deemed necessary by their employer for their area of work, and exercise the skills and knowledge learnt when required to do so.
The person employed will be required to perform assigned duties exercising a duty of care, in the interest of safety of oneself, fellow employees and the general public, at all times in compliance with Louth County Council's Health & Safety Management System and Foreman role duties listed under LCC Safety Statement 2021.
Working in a safe manner, in full compliance with the relevant safety legislation and construction regulations, will be the primary responsibility of all Foremen.
