While the principles of low energy building apply equally for new build and upgrades, the reality is that hitting passive levels becomes much trickier when retrofitting. The Passive House Institute have taken this on board and created a retrofit standard that is ambitious but achievable.

Material and energy flow analysis will be required as part of Life Cycle Assessments. An ability to write reports at the level of post graduate / academic research in excellent English.Experience in LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology would be useful. 'SimaPro 5' software will be used in the project and training for this will be provided. An ability to develop business development strategies and plans for innovative, sustainable technologies.A working knowledge of the cement production process and the cement and concrete industry, or an interest in this area, would be ideal but is not essential. The ability to undertake administration tasks associated with the projects will be necessary to satisfy the EC project requirements. The main project started on 1 March 2012 and lasts 3 years. Flexible working is required to meet project milestones. This is not always a full-time job but will require full-time working for some of the time.
Our office is located in central Dublin in a pleasant shared working environment with a firm of architects. The salary is negotiable based on experience and restricted by the fixed EU project budget.
Please provide a CV and a written description of your knowledge and experience in the areas outlined above. Interviews will be arranged in early January and the right person can start immediately.
