Position: Gallery Producer, Ireland AM (Maternity Cover)
About the Role:
Virgin Media Television is seeking a Gallery Producer for Ireland AM, the flagship morning show of VMTV.
Reporting to an Ireland AM Supervising Producer, the Gallery Producer will be a key player in producing the live output of the show.
This role will involve fast-paced, real-time decision-making in the gallery, delivering editorial direction, managing live content, and ensuring the highest broadcast standards are maintained throughout the show.
The Gallery Producer will also play a central role in forward planning, proactively booking great content, and identifying exciting stories and emerging talent.
In this role, you'll ensure that all live broadcasts are as engaging and relevant as possible, while overseeing multiple gallery tasks to deliver a polished final product.
Collaboration with other departments and the wider production team will be essential to maintaining the show's consistency and freshness.
Main Tasks of the Job: Guide programme editorial under the direction of the Supervising Producer, ensuring content is aligned with the show's objectives and editorial standards.Produce the live output of Ireland AM, providing editorial direction live on air to the production team and presenters, while keeping the show flowing seamlessly.Oversee forward planning, including identifying great stories, booking talent, and managing future events to ensure continuous, engaging content.Proactively seek out relevant content, news items, and interesting stories that resonate with the audience and keep the show fresh and topical.Collaborate closely with the Supervising Producer to develop new content ideas, ensuring the show evolves and remains relevant.Supervise gallery operations to ensure the show runs smoothly, pivoting between multiple tasks like live content, VT, and editorial adjustments in real-time.Oversee and plan outside broadcasts, VT content, and live reports, ensuring smooth integration into the live show.Develop impactful segments that are both entertaining and informative, aligning with the Ireland AM brand.Manage daily editorial tasks, including overseeing content changes, liaising with team members, and delivering live direction in the gallery.Inspire and mentor researchers, encouraging them to find strong content, book great talent, and support the development of the show.Integrate social media activity into the show's output, ensuring it's timely, relevant, and in line with the show's editorial direction.Contribute to long-term planning, helping to shape future content strategy and events with the Supervising Producer.The above list is not exhaustive.
You will be expected to perform duties as required by the changing nature of the role and the overall business objectives of the company.
The Person: Highly creative, driven, and committed to delivering top-quality live television.A strong multi-tasker with the ability to pivot between live gallery tasks, content development, and team coordination.Excellent at forward planning, with a passion for seeking out great stories, talent, and new ideas to keep the show fresh and exciting.Calm under pressure with strong editorial judgement and problem-solving skills.A proactive communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, live television environment.A team player who leads by example, mentoring and motivating others on a daily basis.Able to balance editorial and commercial needs to ensure the show remains relevant, engaging, and audience-focused.Skills & Expertise: Strong understanding of entertainment and current affairs television.Excellent editorial judgement with a talent for identifying compelling stories and relevant content.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, live environment.Strong communication skills and the ability to adjust editorial direction on the fly.Experience booking great content, finding new talent, and developing fresh ideas for a live show.Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments, from technical to commercial teams.Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.Experience working in daytime TV, particularly with live broadcasts.Degree or qualification in Broadcast Media, Communications, or a related field.Editing and scriptwriting skills or experience in video production.Knowledge of media law, particularly in relation to broadcasting regulations.Experience working with talent (presenters, guests, contributors) and managing on-air interviews.
