We are currently recruiting for Irelands first independently operated secure psychiatric care service for mental health, set to open in 2024 in Co. Meath, located just 30 minutes from Dublin City. This will include the following on a day-to-day basis: Live our Mission, Vision and Values. Ability to provide high quality patient centred care at all times. Maintain confidentiality and impartiality. Take the lead in providing a primary care service to our patients who are on admission at our Approved Centre in Gormanston commensurate to that available to individuals in the community. Undertake a routine medical review of all patients admitted to the Approved Centre within one week of admission. Conduct regular GP clinics at the Approved Centre, Gormanston. Undertake routine health screening. Provide primary care specialist clinics for specific conditions or for certain groups, such e.g. Diabetes, smoking cessation. Use the most efficient treatment or care consistent with the needs of their patients. Utilise the appropriate support services including community and diagnostic services when available. Liaison with and referral to medical specialists/specialist clinics as indicated. Refer patients to Accident and Emergency for further treatment if deemed necessary. Undertake Health Education promotion in conjunction with other health professionals. Support nursing colleagues in providing safe assessment, treatment and monitoring of patients. Offer phone advice and liaise with to nursing colleagues, Registrars or Consultant Psychiatrists regarding patients on admission at the Approved Centre, Gormanston. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems of patients, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the unit. Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Accept clinical responsibility for persons on their list who need medical treatment and treat them or, when the clinical condition is such that it is appropriate to transfer them to appropriate consultant care, do so and accept clinical responsibility for them on becoming aware of their discharge from consultant care. Keep themselves informed of developments in clinical care relevant to general practice. Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views. Support the Approved Centre Gormanston clinical team in complying with the Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice as far as is reasonable and practicable including seclusion reviews. To provide an out of hours on-call service to the Approved Centre, Gormanston. Attend staff meetings. Provide GP reports for patient MDT reviews Attend MDT meetings when indicated/practicable. Knowledge: Knowledge, understanding and familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice. Experience: A minimum of 5+ years post qualification/registration experience. Skills: Strong leadership skills. Strong problem-solving skills and judgement making critical decisions and recommendations. Capable of working within a fast-paced and flexible team. Good listener and open to learning from others.
