The Global Engineering Strategy team (GES) is looking for a results-oriented, inventive data centre engineer to drive development, implementation and delivery of enterprise data centers strategies through the use of collocation facilities and AWS infrastructure builds, which meet strict quality and performance levels across the globe.
You will lead the engineering due diligence efforts for new and expanding regions, which maintain the highest performance standards and utilize innovation to reduce budgets and increase efficiency.

Working product teams on infrastructure roll-out plans in support of new AWS products.PUE analysis.Cooling solution analysis.Long Lead equipment preparation for the proposed build design.Review of colocation assessment for new regions.Support the power and water teams with engineering analysis.In conjunction with the Energy Team, work with International Utilities to understand HV/MV substation design and impacts to assess risk and impacts on our builds.Manage/review site test-fits and site plans.Provide engineering design decisions to the planning team for strategic planning and region selection.Work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit internal customer input.Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architects to assess how our various products can be deployed in that region.Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds.In this role, you will interact with Design Engineering, Colocation Engineering, Power, Water, Strategy Business planning and Finance teams. You will also interact with Senior management, Directors and VP's to deliver the engineering planning decisions for approval and feedback.
Travel will occasionally be necessary but shouldn't be more than 25%. International support will be part of the job.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering/Architect or relevant discipline.
- 7+ years of experience with industrial/ commercial design or experience directly related to data center infrastructure and data center planning.
- In depth understanding of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Licensed Architect or relevant discipline.
- Familiar with Substation design, HV/MV distribution systems and understanding of international code requirements.
- Possess leadership and problem solving skills, communication skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards. Be a motivated, highly dependable individual.
- Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities. An ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability, or maintainability.
