Job OverviewThis is a rotational Graduate Engineering Programme, where you will be offered the unique opportunity to spend time in each of our Engineering departments which include: Operations, NPD Devices & NPD Metals.

On completion of this 2 year rotational programme you will have gained invaluable experience and knowledge of each engineering department. You will acquire a comprehensive perspective of the medical device industry that will benefit you and enhance your career.
Operations DevicesThe devices operations team currently has a team of 3 Senior Quality Engineers, 6 Quality Engineers and 10 technicians. This team supports the manufacturing and release of a range of medical products including catheters, stent delivery and sheath products. The devices team manufacture the product and organise the sterilisation of the products through a third party. The team also manufacture and supply sub assembly products which ship to OEM's for final processing. The manufacturing takes place in 3 ISO 14644 1 Class 8 Cleanrooms. The processes include hydrophilic coating, braiding, various bonding processes, welding, heat shrinking and stent crimping. All manufacturing lines are customer-specific and the quality team have a close working relationship with the customer. As well as product compliance the team work on process improvements, material changes, customer requested changes. The business is highly regulated and as a result there is a significant level of customer and regulatory audits including an annual MDSAP audit. In addition, most process/material changes require validation and customer approval.
Operations MetalsThe Metals operations team currently has a team of 4 Senior Quality Engineers, 5 Quality Engineers and 7 technicians. The Metals team manufactures and supply sub assembly products which ship to OEM's for final processing. The manufacturing takes place in General manufacturing and ISO 13485 and ISO 14644-1 Class 8 Cleanrooms environments. The processes include coating, pad printing, welding, moulding, trimming, laser cutting, extrusion and grinding. The quality team has a close working relationship with TE's many customers. The team generally work on process improvements, material changes, customer requested changes. The business is highly regulated and as a result there is a significant level of customer and regulatory audits including an annual MDSAP audit. Subsequently most process / material changes require validation and customer approval. Working closely with the Engineering, Automation and Production departments with the focus of complete customer satisfaction, this role is highly rewarding as it allows for immersion in multiple processes both from an Operations and Quality Systems perspective and provides excellent exposure in Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering disciplines.
Quality SystemsYou will work closely with the site Quality teams to ensure harmonized Quality systems processes are implemented and effective and serve the business as well as meeting regulatory requirements.
You will support the Quality systems team to ensure processes within our eQMS system Smartsolve (CAPA, change management, Audit, training, document management) are effectively followed and requirements are met. Participate in eQMS activities, engaging with subject matter experts to identify system changes and process improvements. Supports the generation and identification of key metrics. Compiles, evaluates and presents quality systems data and metrics. Review and approval of global/site change control documents.
New Product Development (NPD) QualityAs an NPD Quality team member, you will become familiar with the Process/Product Development process (PDP) for a medical device.
You will be part of a 10 strong team of NPD Quality engineers working across projects in Galway site in the metals components and finished devices business, as well as linking with colleagues in NPD Quality located in other sites in our medical site network across EMEA and Americas.
In TE, the NPD team is a cross functional team of project management, design quality, product and process development engineers, that partner with the customer to bring their design to life. The NPD project team will develop the manufacturing process that will help customer achieve their product design and do this with focus on high quality development to achieve a safe product, that will do what the customer needs, to achieve a strong, safe and successful patient outcome.
The role will see you involved in stages of PDP that decide on a concept where the team find the right solution to deliver the customer's design. You will be part of technical meetings within your team and with the customer design experts as this evolves. The PDP process then moves to fine tune the concept and develop an optimized manufacturing process that gives the customer the design they need. The team will also ensure that the processes developed are re-created at a scale large enough to meet the demand the customer expects to see when they launch to market.
The role will give you experience of workings of both medical device components of devices that customer might incorporate to their own devices but also the design and assembly of finished devices themselves that are ready to use.
As part of the NPD team there will be opportunity to work on projects in our components manufacturing business that is predominantly metals based making hypotubes, corewires, needles and assemblies that are assembled into finished devices either in our finished devices area in TE or by the customer in further processing. The NPD team may also be working on finished packaged and labelled devices that may be supplied finished and sometimes also sterilized directly to the customer or to their distribution centre.
