Group Sales Manager - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Great National Hotels & Resorts Group have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Group Sales Manager to head up all aspects of sales planning, co-ordination and implementation on a 12 month contract This role offers huge amounts of exposure to someone who is seeking career development and is truly passionate about the Hospitality industry.
Objective of the Role The ideal candidate will be pro-active and energetic- achieving sales targets & the ability to execute effectively a focused sales plan for the agreed market segments. We are looking for a forward-thinking individual who will be continuously looking at how the hotels can increase productivity through different methods and approaches.
Reporting directly to the Group Commercial Director, you will work to increase revenue and maximise yield, predominately for bedrooms, ensuring budgeted sales, average room rates, occupancy in both rooms and catering are met.
You will be instrumental in promoting the Group, on both a national and an international level, to raise our profile, to retain and maintain existing business and develop new business, resulting in increased sales.
  Duties will include: Perform day to day sales activity including lead generation, face to face meetings, contracting & rate negotiation, site inspections, attendance at trade shows, client entertainment and national/international sales trips.
Identify key competitors and carry out regular competitor analysis; monitoring their performance, rates and sales activity.
Work in conjunction with the Head of Sales & Marketing for generating leads through proactive sales activities calls to achieve MICE & Corporate Room Revenue. Lead and co-ordinate sales activities across the Group in order to secure new business and develop the Group brand.
To ensure the accurate processing, distribution, recording/filing and follow up of all sales correspondence, including the execution of contracts, quotations, confirmations, cancellations, etc.
To contract corporate rates annually with key corporate accounts.
Research past business for each property to devise quarterly plans to present to the GCD.
To support with lead conversions, visit prospective clients and maintain an up to date database on clients.
To proactively sell all event spaces to prospective corporate clients, agencies or private bookings.
The organization, planning and promotion of regular business networking events, trade events and guest events in order to exploit the brand image.
Attend Group consumer and trade promotions as required and schedule relevant individual promotions for the hotel.
Recognise and capitalise on opportunities for PR & media exposure for the hotels.
To be fully aware of the main market developments and other factors that would influence business or create favourable market conditions.
Conform to the monthly sales reporting requirement as directed by the GCD.
Joint sales calls with GNH, to drive national business and events.
Represent the Group at sales team meetings.
Ensure commercial and effective yield management is applied for all sources of business and strong understanding of the same.
Execute quarterly activity plans to create focus for the team and adapt activity to support business needs.
Assist at Board level in the formulation of commercial strategy and the co-ordination of quarterly sales campaigns and action plans in collaboration with the GN Group.
You will have - Relevant experience in a senior Sales role A dynamic self-starter with very strong commercial acumen and judgement.
Highly driven & motivated, proactive organised multi-tasker, with experience in sales at both operational and management levels A proven track-record in achieving sales targets and be an effective communicator to both clients and colleagues alike, individually and in groups.
Experience in report writing and the ability to lead and motivate the Sales and Marketing team to develop to meet current and future objectives are also required A creative thinker with an outgoing personality who can drive new relationships as well as maintain existing ones.
Strong planning, budgeting and forecasting capabilities with an analytical approach to problem solving Highly organised, with a strong attention to detail Ability to multi-task, whilst remaining calm, under high pressure and tight deadlines Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiating and networking skills, internally and externally Ability to present and interpret sales content and analytics at a board level Ability to motivate and lead people with experience of effective people management in a team environment.
