Head Gardener

Bantry House and Garden is seeking a Head Gardener. This role reports directly to the Owner and General Manager as required.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a historic garden with a large range of plants. The owner/management requires a Head Gardener to work with them on taking the garden forward in order to increase visitor numbers.

Regular Duties Overall planning and planting working closely with the owner and general manager. Soil management, pest/disease control and weed control using organic gardening methods. Path maintenance. Drain maintenance. Co-ordinating lawn cutting with local contractor. Tool and equipment maintenance. Visitor engagement on occasion. Strimming and hedge trimming as needed. Managing Interns during the spring and summer months. Managing local volunteer program. General Skills Attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Excellent knowledge of plants. Health and Safety knowledge. A proactive nature with regards caring for the grounds and what is needed going forward. Ability to contribute to the entire business showing initiative and flexibility in the role. Qualifications and Education Requirements Driver's license. Relevant and recent experience. Relevant training/education in Horticulture.
