The Head of Research will play a leading role and will spearhead the delivery of its research outputs, conduct research, facilitate public discourse, and advocate for policy change in discrete areas to further the interests of organisation.
Main Duties & Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the organisation's standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Director of Policy.
The Head of Research will be required to:
Secure approval for, and implement, a multi-annual programme of research Conduct research and draft evidence-based research papers on topics within the thematic focus of the centre Organise and host debates, roundtable events, panel discussions, public meetings etc on issues relating to the centre's research focus Develop proposals for reform where necessary whihc are supported by draft legislation Publish a series of research papers which demonstrate depth of research, consideration of policy issues, and make a positive contribution to policy development Execute a communications plan to increase awareness of the work of the research centre Manage oversee the work carried out by a small team of researchers Develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders Engage with Council, Committees, Director of Policy, and any forum tasked with oversight of the implementation of the programme of research. Knowledge & Skills A Postgraduate qualification in law, political science, or other related and relevant field, at Master's or PhD level Thorough understanding of the justice system and legislative process in Ireland and the European Union Minimum of 5 year's relevant experience of management of a research team Experience of working with academic and non-academic partners in the design and delivery of academically excellent research Experience and demonstrated performance in the leadership and project management of multiple simultaneous research projects executed to a high standard Proven history in delivering projects on-time and to the required quality expectations Experience of successful performance of working with oversight boards and governance structures Advanced knowledge of a range of research and evaluation methods and their application Experience with interdisciplinary research Experience with public outreach and the dissemination/translation of research to non-research audiences An excellent command of written and oral communication skills in English Practical-minded and commercially aware Strong administrative and organisational skills Salary (Competitive) Excellent working conditions Pension Hybrid working and great flexibility in general At Wallace Myers International Recruitment Agency we specialise in sourcing professionals for key industries and services.
