Once formed, the panel will remain in existence for 12 months.
Details of Service Service Description: Older Person Services are expanding to meet the needs of our aging population and offer more rewarding nursing career opportunities.
We are committed to providing high standards of nursing care to clients with various care needs, including palliative, acute, and long-term care.
In addition to Older Person clients, our facilities provide care to younger people with chronic conditions.
Team Collaboration: Work with GPs, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians, Health Care Assistants, and QRPS Teams to ensure the best outcomes for service users and residents.
Reporting Relationship Reporting To: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 or designated officer in the Nursing area Accountable To: Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing Purpose of the Post Main Purpose: Assist with the delivery of resident/older adult care under the supervision and direction of Nursing or other Professional Staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Role Description: Assist in providing high standards of health and social care to residents/older adults under the direction of a nurse, supporting residents in directing their own lives according to their cognitive and physical abilities.
Core Responsibilities Clinical Duties: Carry out baseline clinical observations (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, temperature, urinalysis) under delegation Assist in providing quality service under Registered Nurse's direction Act as an advocate for residents/older adults Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good interpersonal skills Promote a culture that values diversity and respect Quality and Safety Duties Include: Support quality standards and improvement initiatives Work within role, adhering to legislation, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines Report complaints and ensure actions support a person-centred service Cooperate with quality reviews/service evaluations Health & Safety Duties Include: Observe all rules relating to Health and Safety and Conduct at Work Report accidents, incidents, or near misses Attend training courses and maintain a strict code of personal hygiene Assist with maintaining a safe environment and support resident mobility and safety Education & Training Training Duties: Attend induction and mandatory in-service education Participate in team-based development and personal development planning Ensure knowledge and skills are updated Communication and Teamwork Communication Duties: Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and healthcare workers Report to nursing staff any changes in the resident's condition using appropriate communication tools Participate in team handovers, meetings, and care planning Specific Care Duties Breathing: Assist residents with breathing, positioning, and oxygen-supplying equipment as directed Eating and Drinking: Assist with meal choices, preparation, and monitoring of nutrition and hydration Elimination: Assist with toileting needs, continence care, and record elimination data Personal Cleansing and Dressing: Assist with bathing, oral care, shaving, and grooming activities Controlling Body Temperature: Assist in maintaining body temperature and reporting changes to nursing staff Mobilising: Promote independence and assist with mobility needs according to care plans End of Life Care: Provide comfort and support to residents and families in end-of-life situations Collaboration in Other Care Activities Support Roles: Contribute to care planning and quality standards Maintain orderly storage, restock supplies, and assist in providing meaningful activities Eligibility Criteria Qualifications: Relevant health skills QQI Level 5 qualification, an equivalent healthcare qualification, or current employment as a Health Care Assistant Personal competence and capacity to discharge the duties of the role Health Requirements Condition: Candidates must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office Character Requirements Condition: Candidates must be of good character Post Specific Requirements Shift Requirements: Night duty and weekend shifts;
