AA Euro Recruitment has been retained by one of Ireland's leading contractors to recruit a Business Unit Health & Safety Manager on site in Cork. The role is working on a complex pharma project and requires 10 plus years' experience. Previous pharma experience advantageous but not essential.
Role: Demonstrate exceptional leadership by your beliefs and behaviours. Assist Head of H&S in development and roll out of company Strategy. Ensure consistent implementation of company standards, procedures, policies and expectations. Ensure workplaces are audited/risk reviewed at a frequency and with intrusiveness in accordance with Policy. Raise at risk/early intervention concerns to Head of H&S when needed. Ensure accidents/incidents are investigated and lessons learnt communicated. Attend BU meetings to deliver a report on Health and Safety for the Business Unit. Monitor Health and Safety performance within the Business Unit and prepare appropriate reports. Prepare a Health and Safety report for the BU MD at applicable internals. Provide line management to applicable members of the HSE team. Ensure adequate cover for Health and Safety is provided and alert the Head of H&S if this is likely to become a problem. Assist tender and prequalification teams where requested advising on Health and Safety submissions as well as helping provide practical solutions. Attend Start Up meetings with site teams. Where requested attend other meetings with Client and/or supply chain. Provide main point of contact for enforcement agencies following their visits or investigations. Keep up to date with legislation and interpretations thereof to facilitate the provision of competent Health and Safety advice to the business. Be aware of own limitations and ensure advice given remains within those limitations. Call in additional support to supplement own abilities where required. Identify learning and development requirements for yourself as well as those of staff who report to you. Coach staff at all levels in Health and Safety expectations and standards. Where approved represent the Company on external bodies. Deliver appropriate training. Requirements: 10+ years in construction industry. 10 years as a Health and Safety professional. Ideally a qualification in engineering or construction technology/management. NEBOSH H&S Diploma or equivalent. Extracurricular exposure to a related Health and Safety specialism e.g. BBS, Occ Health, BIM etc. Ideally a Chartered Member of IOSH. Awareness of lifting operations: BS7121/IS 361 & LEEA code. Temp Works Awareness incl knowledge of TWC role. Knowledge of LOTO/COHE systems in Live Energies. Incident Investigation Training.
