Position DescriptionThe HGV Mechanic is responsible for carrying out the repair, maintenance and inspection of vehicles & plant and equipment in accordance with legislation guidelines, policies and procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance upkeep and repair of HGV & LGV vehicles & equipmentGeneral Application Certification of hoists and cranesTo complete work to a high standard in accordance with legislation guidelines, policies and procedures and report all defects to Lead Mechanic and/or Fleet SupervisorTo complete all work safely and contribute positively to the development of the team and selfTo carry out tasks/responsibilities and test and certification of vehicles and equipment assigned in a timely and cost-effective mannerTo maintain knowledge and skills in order to carry out full range of duties in a sustainable and environmentally friendly mannerTo work well both as a team member and on own initiative to assist in the achievement of business objectivesExperience and QualificationsApplicants must have successfully completed a recognised and relevant Mechanical apprenticeship and have attained the appropriate Craft Accreditation certificate with FAS/Solas in one of the following:
Heavy Vehicle MechanicMotor MechanicConstruction Plant Fitter - with relevant commercial vehicle experienceAgricultural Mechanics - with relevant commercial vehicle experienceFull driver's license (B Category)Minimum 3 years relevant work experience is desirableHydraulics experience is desirable but not essential.LocationSligo
Reporting toThe successful candidate will report to the Fleet & Equipment Supervisor, Sligo.
