Job Title and Grade Senior Clinical Psychologist Organisational Area Highfield Healthcare which incorporates Highfield Hospital and Hampstead Clinic Services the Approved Centre registered by the Mental Health Commission and Nursing Home Services include the ACC and Dementia Service registered by HIQA.
Reporting Relationship The post holder is responsible to the Clinical Psychology Manager and will have a clinical reporting relationship to him/her, including attendance at regular clinical supervision and in relation to all operational matters, clinical governance, performance review etc Purpose of the Post The role of the Senior Clinical Psychologist is to develop and deliver the clinical psychology service within the Approved Centre in line with service plans and objectives and within established professional standards, guidelines, and policy.
The post holder, as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team, is key to the effective treatment of all patients and residents admitted to the Hampstead Clinic Acute General Adult Mental Health services and psychiatry of later life within Highfield Hospital.
A core part of the role will be providing psychological services to patients within a newly developed Specialist Rehabilitation Unit (SRU).
He/she will also be involved in the continuous development of mental healthcare services and serve on various project teams and committees for that purpose.
Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience Candidates must have: 1) a recognised University degree or diploma (QQI Level 8 equivalent) obtained with first or second-class honors in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honors obtained in that subject and 2) A) postgraduate professional psychology qualification recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology as appropriate to the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated OR 2) B) postgraduate professional psychology qualification validated by the Department of Health and Children in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology as appropriate to the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated 3) have at least five years satisfactory postgraduate experience in professional psychology in which the position is designated.
The five years experience must comprise of no more than three years full time Post Graduate training and no less than two full years experience as a Staff Grade Psychologist.
Years more than the permitted three years for completion of the Post Graduate training or time not worked cannot be taken into consideration when assessing the five years experience requirement.
4) possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
