Your Role and Responsibilities
As a key member of our global team, you will play a vital role in developing the Linux platform for multiple embedded controllers in the IBM Z machine.
Your responsibilities will comprise packaging a Linux environment tailored for various embedded controllers in the IBM Z environment. This includes packaging, testing, debugging, as well as support. Engagements with the Open Source community and Red Hat are expected and required to ensure the long-term support of all the packages. In addition, a comprehensive test and CI/CD environment needs to be established to ensure secure, up-to-date packages that are tested automatically on various simulation and hardware platforms. Debugging and support skills are expected. You should be able to analyze Kernel Dumps as well as issues in the Linux environment and the additional open-source packages.
PLEASE NOTE - This position is based in our Waterford location and requires working onsite 3 days per week.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise 2+ years of experience in Open Source development for Linux, Linux kernel & Linux device driversExperience in operating systems development or packagingExpert skills in source code repository systems (e.g., git), scripting languages (e.g., bash, Python), and test Automation (e.g., Jenkins)Experience in low-level/assembler development (preferably on non-x86 architectures)RedHat / CentOS / Fedora experience Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise Contributions to Open Source projects or Open Source maintainer status (for multiple years)RPM package development and repository managementHandling of vulnerabilities through CVEs
