Cloud Platform / Kubernetes Engineer (f/m/d) Reference number: 133/2024 Hiring date: At the earliest possible date Duration of employment: Limited to 2 years Working hours: 39 hours per week Remuneration: E 14 TvöD federal Place of work: Braunschweig Probationary period:6 weeks Application deadline: 20.10.2024 The Computer Center of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) is looking for a Cloud Platform / Kubernetes Engineer (f/m/d) As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the HZI, Germany's largest non-university infection research center, conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases.
Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to fight infectious diseases faster and more effectively.
Our common goal is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
Bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines are the focus of our research.
With a wide range of services and projects, the Computing Centre department, headed by Dr. Joachim Metge, supports both science and administration, thus making a fundamental contribution to the success of infection research at the HZI.
In a complex IT environment at several locations, 22 employees and six trainees face daily challenges and master them with competence and team spirit in a friendly environment.
Area of responsibility: Setup, operation and further development of a self-managed Kubernetes platform Provision and maintenance of cloud services Maintenance of operating systems, container images and the associated automation scripts Operational support, troubleshooting and error analysis Ensuring efficient monitoring and backup processes Coordinating external companies and service providers Designing and optimizing the necessary processes Prerequisites: Successfully completed technical master's degree with a focus on computer science Independent setup, operation and maintenance of the cloud system (patching, updating, monitoring), ideally with Rancher, Kubernetes and Longhorn Experience with various architecture and operating concepts of modern infrastructure solutions Sound knowledge of scripting (Python, PowerShell) and containerization of servers and services (Docker and Kubernetes) Ability to carry out troubleshooting and error correction measures Basic security mindset (data protection, proxy server, API gateways) Knowledge of CI/CD tools (AzureDevOps, Gitlab, GitHub) We offer you: An attractive and varied job in a future-oriented research institute with an international environment at the Science Campus South in Braunschweig A state-of-the-art infrastructure and the latest technologies Flexible working hours and the option to work from home A corporate culture of appreciation and promotion of equal opportunities Extensive training and further education opportunities to develop professional knowledge and personal skills A family office to support family and career as well as childcare services Interesting additional public service benefits Subsidy for the job ticket In the case of equal professional suitability, severely disabled persons are given preference.
