Qualcomm IT seeks a Kubernetes generalist who can assist with the construction, deployment, and troubleshooting of bare-metal on-prem and cloud-based multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters using Rancher. Kubernetes distributions in use are RKE (on-prem) and GKE, EKS, AKS (cloud). Day to day tasks also include monitoring performance and availability of all Kubernetes clusters, as well as performing capacity planning activities. Candidates will join a mature and experienced team of Kubernetes platform administrators with a wide range of skill levels. Candidates will have many opportunities for growth through project work and coaching from mentors. Examples of possible project work include implementation of self-healing system automation; testing, validation, and deployment of new Kubernetes versions; transformation of existing platform automation to make use of new Kubernetes functionality; testing and integration of new bare-metal compute platforms; implementation and troubleshooting of novel Kubernetes multi-tenancy patterns such as vcluster.
Baseline requirements: Comfortable using and developing on Linux as a primary OS, especially Ubuntu.4+ years administering Linux systems, intermediate proficiency.2+ years Kubernetes administration experience.Advanced proficiency in Kustomize or Helm (preferably both).Intermediate knowledge of Kubernetes networking internals (notably Flannel+Calico).Direct experience deploying and maintaining enterprise Kubernetes clusters.Advanced proficiency with Docker and Linux container internals.Advanced proficiency with git and Github.Comprehensive knowledge of Kubernetes control plane architecture and troubleshooting.Intermediate proficiency with Python.Intermediate proficiency with bash scripting.Comfortable with Agile project management in JIRA.Beneficial additional experience: Recent CKAD and CKA certifications. CKS certification is a plus.Bare-metal Kubernetes management with Rancher and RKE.Cloud Kubernetes management (GKE, EKS and AKS).Datadog log and metrics collection; dashboarding.Writing Operators in Python using KOPF.Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Gatekeeper OPA.Kubernetes Ingress/Gateway API implementations.Deployment and management of Portworx.Creating CI/CD workflows using Github Actions.Deployment and management of MetalLB.Where you will be working Cork has a proud reputation as Ireland's second largest economic engine and is now one of the Top 20 location choices in Europe with 39,000 people being employed by over 170 overseas companies.
