Laboratory Assistant

We're looking for a Lab Assistant to join our busy laboratory team.
The role is based in our Lab in Kanturk, Co Cork.
The role would initially be for 6 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct Q.C.
laboratory tests and analysis using provided instruments while adhering to well defined methods and procedures covering the processes / activities onsite from a chemical, microbiological and environmental viewpoint.
  Prioritise and plan tasks / workload within defined frequencies / schedules so that the job is efficiently and effectively completed   Effectively record, maintain, interpret and communicate data and results of tests / analysis in a timely fashion to designated personnel, e.g.
colleagues and management within the North Cork Cooperative Creameries and to customers and suppliers/regulators when requested.
  Participate in flavour panels as a panellist   Use relevant software programmes (including LIMS) in addition to having the necessary I.T.
skills to adapt to new programmes, including in-house programmes.
  Ensure good housekeeping and GLP and adhere to the company's safety standards at all times.
  Excellent attention to detail and vigilance while performing tasks and analysis in a laboratory environment   Assisting in ordering and maintenance of minimum stock levels for laboratory consumables   Participate in internal and external proficiency tests and training.
  Implement companies calibration procedures using provided samples and standards   REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE: Knowledge of the dairy industry is beneficial Degree or equivalent in Science 1-2 years Lab experience is beneficial Strong attention to detail Ability to work on own initiative Knowlege of LIMS Ability to work on various IT packages
