Laboratory Technician - Chemistry

Job Description We currently have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Raw Materials Chemistry team in Dungarvan Co. Waterford.  The purpose of this job is to carry out reagent preparation and perform required laboratory tasks (lab support) to ensure the area functions efficiently and company quality and accuracy standards are upheld.
Job Responsibilities Perform competently all activities for which training has been completed To be responsible for proficiency in certain procedures / training modules as specified in their training plan.
To act on their own initiative to ensure efficiencies in laboratory and that client needs being met – including reorder of stock, housekeeping activities to ensure labs in optimal working conditions.  Perform reagent/solution preparation.  To perform techniques / tests that they are qualified to do in terms of completed training records and as directed by the laboratory senior.
Training other lab technician's/ laboratory assistants if and when required on techniques / tests for which they have approved training records.
To provide cover for other members of staff as required and as training allows.
To keep their training records up to date and to initiate training as per their training plan where possible when free from work.
To adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying management of any discrepancies.
To be flexible to provide customer service when required.
This includes additional working hours, overtime, weekend work when required.
To identify any opportunities for improvement of quality and service and work with the team to implement continuous improvement.
To participate in the company On-Call / Call out rota as required.
Shift change may be required depending on the needs of the laboratory, this can include a change in working days and/or daily shift hours.
