The Role:The Business Development function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for developing and implementing the commercial strategies of Gas Networks Ireland to ensure sustainable growth into the future. The Customer Acquisition Team is part of the Business Development Team and is focused on increasing demand by maximising the potential of the existing gas network by encouraging additional connections to the Distribution and Transmission networks across the industrial, commercial, transport (compressed natural gas) and housing sectors. The Customer Acquisition Team is also responsible for proactively seeking opportunities to connect biomethane producers (Anaerobic Digestion facilities) to enable injection of renewable gas in to the gas network to assist in decarbonising the gas network.
The Large I&C Sales Engineer will be responsible for proactively identifying additional industrial connection opportunities (both new and existing developments) while fostering best-in-class sales techniques to convert opportunities into contracts to connect to the gas network.
Reporting to the Large I&C Sales Manager, the Large I&C Sales Engineer will demonstrate a high degree of commercial awareness, industry technical expertise and have a customer centric approach with the ability to nurture enduring relationships with key decision makers. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills with a proven track record in dealing with energy projects from planning to contract execution.
Duties and Responsibilities:Proactively identify new opportunities for industrial connections whom will consume in excess of 5,500,000kWh's (new or existing developments).Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to support the progression of gas connection projects through the connections process.Demonstrate strong technical selling and negotiation skills to conclude contractual arrangements which meet Gas Networks Ireland renewable gas connection KPI's.Provide technical expertise to customers while leveraging an established network of industry contacts and internal stakeholders.Demonstrate commercial acumen and assist customers with exploring commercial routes to market.Prepare for, and execute, best-in-class customer face-to-face meetings in accordance with the GNI Customer Sales Process to include presentations and board-room activity.Efficiently manage sales funnel of opportunities while reporting monthly on activity, market trends and challenges.Proactively seek positive improvements in the Gas Networks Ireland connections process by representing the customers voice.Represent GNI at key industry events and act as a subject matter expert.Knowledge, Skills and Experience:5-years experience in a technical sales function with experience in the renewable energy or utility connections industry an advantage.Keen knowledge of the renewable gas industry and technologies preferably with a network of established contacts in the industry.Commercially aware – able to identify opportunities and objectively judge them while influencing to a positive outcome.Good understanding of business plans, commercial paybacks and ability in business writing skills.Achieve target levels of new connections.Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence key decision makers.Highly developed presentation skills.Experience in dealing with senior stakeholders/customers.Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships and to influence effectively.Proactively identify new areas of learning and use newly-gained knowledge and skills on the job.Ability to set own high standards of performance and to deliver desired results.Applications, including current Curriculum Vitae, should be emailed to the following address stating the job title and reference number in the subject line of your email: ******
