Trinity College Dublin- an introduction Post SummaryApplications are invited for the above post, which will support the undergraduate medical education programme at the partner teaching hospitals (St James's Hospital/Tallaght University Hospital/The Coombe Hospital) in 2025-2026.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain experience and skills in medical education particularly small and large group teaching, workplace-based teaching, written and clinical assessment including standard setting.
There is an expectation that the post holder will undertake a postgraduate qualification or degree (MSc, MD, or PhD) in medical education, or a clinical research area supported by the Discipline of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
The post is particularly suitable for a postgraduate trainee in Obstetrics & Gynaecology planning an out-of-programme experience as part of higher specialist training.
However, non-consultant hospital doctors at an earlier stage of training who wish to gain experience and skills in medical education will be considered for the post.
The successful applicant will also engage in research and clinical activities but will be expected to spend at least half of their time contributing to the teaching programme.
The successful candidates must complete all relevant pre-employment checks upon commencement of post, including but not limited to; be registered with the Irish Medical Council, be cleared from a Garda vetting, and be cleared from occupational health perspective by the relevant hospital.
Post status: The appointment is offered on a one-year fixed term contract basis with a potential for renewal up to a maximum of 3 years.
The appointment is available from 14th July 2025.
Salary: This appointment will be made on the HSE Registrar scale €68,872 - €78,748 per annum scale or HSE Specialist Registrar scale €74,970 - €93,339 per annum in line with current public pay policy.
Hours of Post for academic staff are those as prescribed under Public Service Agreements.
