Maintenance Assistant

Job Description General Maintenance: ·        Empty and clean all bins daily, ensuring they are returned to the appropriate units.
·        Clean courtyards, smoking areas, and outdoor spaces regularly.
·        Inspect maintenance boards across all units and kitchens; address or escalate issues promptly.
·        Respond immediately to emergency breakdowns or reported issues such as leaks, electrical problems, or faulty equipment.
Facility Upkeep: ·        Perform regular landscaping, including grass cutting.
·        Maintain cleanliness of outdoor windows and extractor fans (every six months).
·        Conduct routine deep cleaning of beds, wheelchairs, and pool rooms.
·        Monitor fire doors and signs weekly.
·        Address uneven flooring, damaged walls, or other structural concerns.
Equipment and System Management: ·        Replace chemicals in laundry or kitchen as needed.
·        Regularly descale kitchen boilers (every three months) and sluice machines (every six months).
·        Test hot and cold water flow in specified areas weekly and document results.
·        Replace damaged lights and repair minor electrical faults; contact electricians for complex issues.
Health & Safety Compliance: ·        Maintain grease traps and check extractor fans periodically.
·        Report any hazards, risks, or damaged items to the Maintenance Manager.
·        Ensure adherence to infection prevention and health and safety protocols.
·        Provide leadership and support in areas of Health & Safety for all other staff in NH ·        Undergo training as required in H&S Additional Responsibilities: ·        Carry out minor repair work (e.g., painting, replacing door sensors).
·        Support operational needs, such as moving beds between units.
Keep the work environment clean and organized, including proper use of cleaning tools.
