The Dublin-based team will play a critical role in our continued digital transformation and will function as a center of excellence for SiriusXM's global Product and Technology organization.
SiriusXM's new Dublin facility will comprise a workforce primarily focused on software development, automotive technology and engineering, AdTech, data science, and analytics.
Talent based in the new technology hub will be charged with developing and implementing best-in-class standards for high-quality, scalable software deliveries for SiriusXM's streaming and in-vehicle audio entertainment platforms.
How you'll make an impact: We are looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team within the User Services org, a part of the larger Platform Services organization.
The User Services org is responsible for building high throughput, highly available services on SiriusXM's service platform that are critical to the user experience.
This service platform will power multiple SiriusXM consumer products that reach millions of users (Pandora, SiriusXM Media, and SiriusXM Connect).
What you'll do: Lead a highly collaborative group of engineers in building solutions that continue to scale to the increasing demands of the business Own the overall technical direction of the team.
Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions.
Ensure team-wide code quality through code reviews and PR feedback.
Represent the team's viewpoints when balancing technical and business initiatives on the roadmap.
Foster a healthy engineering culture that promotes the core tenets of simplicity, pragmatism, innovation, curiosity and accountability.
Exhibit the core traits of empathy, trust, transparency and respect for others to follow.
Attract and recruit great talent to continue to grow the team.
Guide career development of engineers.
Directly manage a team of four to eight engineers that are geographically distributed.
What you'll need: 7+ years of software engineering/development experience.
2+ years of technical/engineering leadership experience.
Expertise in Scala and functional programming paradigms.
Experience designing and implementing RESTful web APIs in an enterprise setting.
Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including the use of source control, CI/CD and various testing approaches.
Deep distributed systems knowledge, having supported multiple high-throughput systems in a production setting.
Experience with AWS in a production setting, preferably having leveraged offerings for compute, databases, storage, containers and serverless technologies.
Ability to manage competing priorities given higher level direction.
Pragmatic approach to weighing engineering tradeoffs versus business needs.
Persistent sense of curiosity to understand why something is and needs to be.
Accountability and a sense of extreme ownership that doesn't end after the system is deployed to production.
