The Opportunity: Our Energy Team delivers high value technical, design and advisory services across a diverse range of energy infrastructure projects and clients. With a strong portfolio of work with one of our key clients, we are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to assist with the design, management and delivery of energy infrastructure projects in the gas sector. In addition to the upgrade and maintenance of critical key infrastructure, our team are actively assisting with the decarbonisation of this infrastructure to ensure future resilience and long-term sustainability. We are also exploring alternative fuel technologies such as hydrogen to add to our work streams.
We are seeking a mechanical engineer (infrastructure) with several years relevant experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be looking to further his/her career and gain invaluable experience across a wide range of projects, within a friendly working environment. In particular, experience in carrying out mechanical infrastructure design, management and delivery of associated work packages, is desirable. Experience/interest in gas and hydrogen technologies is a distinct advantage. This is a permanent role in a really experienced team which offers the successful candidate excellent opportunities for continued learning, diversification of skills and career development.
As a Mechanical Engineer on the Energy Team at Arup, you will: Understand the appointed design scope, identifying the associated deliverables and the workflow required to complete them.Plan and ensure completion of workload, its quality assurance, and its coordination with the rest of the design team (both internally and externally).Manage and work with others to produce design, drawings, reports and specifications and guide more junior colleagues in doing so.Develop and maintain good relationships with clients, sub-consultants and construction contractors.Does this role inspire you? Relevant third level Degree (Level 8 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering (or related).Several years post qualification experience, most of which will be in design gained within a consultancy environment.Membership of a professional body, actively working towards chartership.Experience in the field of mechanical design with experience across a range of project scales.Experience in the field of gas infrastructure design and associated project delivery is desirable.Experience in relation to equipment sizing, pipeline routing, gas stations site layouts and locations, C&I services is highly desirable.Understanding of industry software packages including AutoCAD, Plant 3D and Revit.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills essential for team-based working, and for client relationship.Why Arup?
