Medical Scientist - Immunology18th November 2024 Location: Dublin Contract Type: Permanent Email: Closing Date: 29th November 2024 We are currently looking for medical scientist - immunology to join our team.Purpose of the postTo be responsible for the provision of an efficient, effective accredited laboratory service for the patients of Mater Private Network.
Duties & responsibilitiesTo be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post-holder's own work.To participate in the timely and proper processing of all specimens received in the laboratory in accordance with the procedures set down by the department head or nominee.To participate in the upkeep of laboratory equipment and apparatus.To participate in the maintenance of adequate records of all laboratory test results performed by the laboratory or carried out on its behalf by an external laboratory.To ensure that all reasonable precautions and safeguards are in place to provide a safe place of work for all persons required to be in the laboratory in accordance with the current Health and Safety at Work legislation.To be informed of relevant health and safety regulations.To participate in any research studies as required.To keep abreast in understanding and knowledge of all new developments which are applicable to the post holder's work.To participate in training staff as required.To perform such other duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned from time to time.Ensure compliance with relevant procedures, best practice methods and all relevant ISO 15189 based standards and Hospital JCI standards.Professional qualifications, registration, essential skills & knowledgea) Possess the Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Streetorb) Possess the Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork - Cork Institute of Technology courseorc) Possess the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994,ord) Possess the Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute or Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1997;ore) Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (a) or (b) aboveorf) Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (c) awarded prior to 1994org) Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (d) awarded prior to 1995andh) Be a member of, or be eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (MACSLM)andi) Must be registered with CORU or eligible for membership upon completion of study or eligible for membership and in the process of applying for state registration.
The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and awareness/ sensitivity towards patient needs.Job description available on request.
