The successful candidate will be required to commence on Monday 14th July 2025. 2 X 0.5 WTE (19.5 hours per week) Tutor in Medicine posts - CUH

The clinical tutor in Medicine post is based in Cork University Hospital (CUH).
University College Cork (UCC) is the primary academic partner of CUH and is a major site for the delivery of medical education and clinical assessment in the South of Ireland.

From time to time, there may be a requirement to attend at UCC campus (Brookfield Health Sciences mainly) for meetings and educational activities.
The appointee will join a small team of UCC and CUH staff who organise and deliver education and assessment to UCC medical students and occasional students on UCC-arranged electives who are on clinical placement in CUH.
Small group learning in clinical settings including tutorial, bedside and case-based teaching prescribed by the UCC curriculum forms the basis of most of this teaching.

The tutor will be involved in the organisation and scheduling of students allocated to CUH Medicine for clinical teaching and site induction at the outset of attachments.
The tutor in Medicine will also be required to participate in organizing and in some situations undertaking of assessment and giving of feedback to students from time to time.

The Department of Medicine supports students across multiple years of programme.
While the tutors in Medicine take primary responsibility for specific stages of programme, there will be an expectation that the tutor will support other team members in the delivery of programme on an agreed basis.
The post is attractive to a medical practitioner wishing to develop practical skills in Medical Education.
As it is a 0.5 WTE post, it may also be a suitable appointment for a doctor undertaking post-graduate study (MD / PhD).
There is scope to participate in Medical Education research and other projects as opportunities arise.

Possession of MRCPI or an equivalent post-graduate professional qualification in Internal Medicine is required.

Prior experience in organisation and delivery of clinical education and / or a qualification in health professionals education is desirable.
The post holder will be expected to be available throughout the academic semesters and assessment periods for the academic year 2025 – 2026.
