Job Overview: The Meeting & Events Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Meetings and Events Department.
This role involves driving profitability, ensuring guest satisfaction, and leading a dynamic team to deliver world-class service in a high-volume, luxury environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales focus, a proven track record in event management, and the ability to cultivate lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy: Manage and lead the Meetings & Events team to achieve revenue and conversion targets, ensuring the department's profitability and guest satisfaction.
Provide strategic direction for daily operations, including handling enquiries, proposals, contracts, and event planning, while maintaining close client interaction.
Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Marketing to review and optimise the business pipeline, identifying gaps and implementing proactive measures to meet targets.
Operations Management: Oversee all reactive sales and event planning activities, ensuring a seamless process from enquiry to execution.
Ensure all events meet the hotels 5-star standards by coordinating with other departments to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
Manage customer satisfaction post-event by handling feedback and resolving any issues promptly and effectively.
Prepare and present weekly forecasts, productivity reports, and monthly revenue and P&L statements to the management team.
Financial & Budgetary Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental budget and financial plans.
Monitor budget adherence and implement strategies to upsell products and services, driving additional revenue.
Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor the Meetings & Events team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance team performance, manage conflict, and support professional development.
Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a high conversion rate of leads to confirmed bookings.
Devise creative strategies to drive business and upsell to existing clients.
Exhibit a professional, positive demeanour in all client interactions, both in-person and via phone or email.
Brand Standards & Compliance: Ensure all events are executed in alignment with the hotels brand standards.
Maintain a thorough understanding of event technology, contract management, and relevant legalities to ensure compliance and optimal service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a senior hospitality event management role, with a proven track record of leading a team in a high-volume, luxury environment.
Skills & Competencies: Strong command of the English language with excellent verbal, listening, and writing skills.
Exceptional customer service and relationship management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and also in Opera Sales & Catering would be an advantage.
Strong knowledge of event technology products, contract management, and legal requirements.
Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories effectively.
Structured, organised approach with the ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to connect and manage client expectations.
