We are currently looking for a Health & Safety Officer to join our client's team for a major civil infrastructure project in Donegal.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety within the civil construction sector and be committed to promoting a safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the implementation of site-specific health and safety plans, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor safety performance and identify potential hazards or risks.
Ensure that all workers and contractors adhere to health and safety regulations, wearing appropriate PPE and following safe work practices.
Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, providing reports and recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
Maintain accurate records of safety audits, inspections, training, and incidents.
Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures.
Promote a proactive health and safety culture on site and lead by example in the implementation of safety initiatives.
Report directly to the Site Manager and Project Manager on safety performance and issues.
Key Requirements: A degree in construction Health and Safety (or equivalent) is essential.
At least 2 years of experience working as a Health & Safety Officer within the construction or civil engineering sector.
Experience working on large infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, or utilities.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices, particularly within civil construction.
Proven track record in carrying out site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence site personnel at all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve safety goals.
