Motor Trade Underwriter The Role: The purpose of the role is to underwrite Motor Trade policies and provide our Brokers and Policyholders with top level customer service. Working within a specialist area, the role will require the proactive management of insurance policies, for New Business, Renewals, and Mid-term Amendments. Coaching and training will be provided, presenting an excellent career opportunity for ambitious individuals. The Person: School and college leavers are welcome to apply and training will be provided. Likewise we are open to candidates with more experience, and will consider all applications. The APA qualification at a minimum is required however. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, demonstrate energy and drive and the ability to create professional relationships with Brokers and their internal colleagues. Although not strictly required, proven technical experience in Commercial Underwriting is an advantage, in particular with Motor Trade policies (including Garage Combined, and Motor Trade Road Risks). Key Responsibilities Quoting for and securing New Business risks Underwriting Motor Trade Road Risks policies Issuing documentation for business placed Building relationships with Brokers by correspondence, phone and attending Broker meetings Meeting sales targets whilst maintaining underwriting standards Proactively managing the renewal of policies, including issuing renewal terms, chasing confirmation of renewal, and processing documentation Processing mid-term amendments Developing a detailed understanding of our Motor Trade products Commitment to continually improving quality and efficiency within the team, and to achieving personal and team objectives Maintaining customer focus and company standards Key Requirements; Experience, Qualifications and Skills: Experience in Commercial or Motor Trade Underwriting is an advantage but not a requirement APA is required Strong team player with ability to build relationships within the team Excellent communication skills - both written and oral Commitment to continuous improvement of quality and efficiency Effective time management and organisational skills Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative Strong Microsoft Office Skills The package offered will be competitive and will be tailored to the experience of the candidate.
