DescriptionThe psychology service in HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare, in line with Sláintecare reconfiguration, has been realigned to work across the full geographical area with responsibility for specific care groups. The services have close links with the UL, NUIG, and MIC Clinical and Educational Psychology Doctoral programmes and are represented on the programme boards. Staff provide lectures as part of the academic modules of the doctoral programme as per their job specification. The services have the responsibility to provide a variety of clinical training placements to trainees from the various accredited programmes.
Currently, Mid-West Community Healthcare has two posts to fill at Principal Psychology Manager grade. Post 1: Mental Health Care GroupThis position will have responsibility for the management of the Mental Health Psychology Services in the HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare Area. The psychology staff team works across General Adult, Specialist Adult, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The current WTE complement is approximately 35 staff across all grades (Psychology Assistant, Staff Grade, Senior Grade, and Principal Specialist).
Post 2: Primary Care & Additional Care GroupsThis position will have responsibility for the management of the Primary Care, Disability, and Older Persons Psychology services in the HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare Area. The psychology staff team works across all above care areas and also includes trainee Psychologists undertaking postgraduate training currently in UG, UL, and MIC. The current WTE complement is approximately 35 staff across the following grades: Psychology Assistant, Staff Grade, Senior Grade, Principal Specialist, and 90 WTE Trainee psychologists.
The Principal Psychologist Manager is a member of the multi-disciplinary management teams, working with senior management and the heads of discipline/services to ensure coordinated and comprehensive psychology service delivery. The post holder will be expected to maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, with the aim of providing integrated care to the client population. S/he will contribute significantly to service planning, development, evaluation, and quality initiatives.
The Principal Psychology Manager will manage, lead, and be responsible for the effective delivery of quality psychology services across all service areas within the designated care area.
Psychology service provision includes assessment, formulation, intervention, consultation, research, education, and support, from a multi-theoretical base and across all relevant domains and difficulties. Such psychological leadership and services will be provided in line with service plans and objectives, and within established professional standards and guidelines.
