About the Role You will have the opportunity to support the strategy and execution of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs plan for ALDI Ireland, delivering projects and initiatives that are designed to enhance reputation amongst media, political, industry and other audiences. The role is based in Aldi's Head Office in Naas, working as a member of the growing Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team, in an extremely exciting and fast paced environment. You will also be part of the wider Communications team and have responsibility to provide cover for colleagues within the team.
This is an 11-month Fixed Term Contract. Key requirements: In line with Aldi's overarching Communications strategy, support and manage the development and implementation of appropriate Corporate PR and Public Affairs strategies and programmes.Contribute to the day-to-day management of the company's engagement with the media by preparing timely and accurate responses to queries received through the external PR agency.Accountable for managing the external PR agency to develop and manage corporate communications and reputation programmes.Accountable for working closely with the relevant teams in head office including Marketing, Real Estate, Sustainability, Buying, Store Operations, HR, CSD and Projects Team to ensure alignment of strategy and messages.Responsible for key areas of responsibility within the team.Supporting the CSD team and managing communications for all incidents, issues, and potential crises.Create corporate positioning/messaging for communications to corporate audiences, ensuring alignment across relevant functions.Collate and deliver Comms training and presentations in your area of responsibility.Monitor Media and Government policy, informing the wider business of relevant topics and advising on any action to be taken.Track, analyse and report monthly on communications and reputation results.Ongoing analysis of your area of responsibility to be completed with required reporting outputs that will be used to present to senior management.Budgetary forecasting and management may be required.Vocational educational qualifications: Essential BA, Post-Grad or Masters in Public Relations, History & Politics or Communications & Business.Employment experience required: Essential Commercially minded and conscious of the impact that their work has on the wider business.Demonstrate leadership qualities and can create an efficient and co-operative working environment.Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business and role.Desirable Ideally 5 years' experience in the implementation of a corporate communications and public affairs strategy through drafting of press releases, speeches, presentation materials and key media engagements.Key areas of expertise: Essential Significant experience in issues and crisis management, with ability to work under pressure, operate in a reactive environment and manage crisis situations in an effective and timely manner.Essential to have experience working either in a PR agency or managing PR agencies.Corporate PR and Public Affairs experience gained within large, international businesses or retail businesses.Other skills or qualifications: Essential Excellent communications skills, including writing, and strong interpersonal skills important.Should be proactive, diplomatic & trustworthy with a flexible approach to work.Highly organised with an ability to handle a high volume of work and to prioritise accordingly.Examples of a systematic work ethic.Creative and independent thinker with an aptitude for coming up with fresh and innovative ideas and challenging and evolving ideas already in place.Proficient IT skills. Well versed in social media tools and other related Corporate PR technology including media monitoring and brand/reputation tracking.Experience in a busy, deadline driven environment.Prior experience of working in a team environment.Polite and professional manner.Impeccable attention to detail.Full drivers' license.
