Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centres. We are currently expanding our Network infrastructure & deployment (NIDD) management team and are looking for a proven technology manager with experience in people management, robust technical understanding and the drive and vision to take AWS Data Centres to the next level. The successful candidate for this role will create sustainable processes and standards; and drive automation opportunities to reduce delivery cycle times and to improve quality without impacting network availability.
The mission of the team is to deliver network capacity on time with zero rework. The Network Build Manager will manage the implementation and delivery of passive and active network solutions. This manager will be responsible for growing a team and will oversee their development and growth. The successful candidate will have experience managing and mentoring people, tracking budgets, providing strategic direction and proposing technical solutions. This manager will ultimately be responsible for installing and delivering our network equipment and related infrastructures, as well as for driving low voltage structured cabling across the Amazon data centre platform.
This role will be based out of a corporate office and remote sites, international and domestic travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesManaging and developing teams of technicians and engineers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.Delivering capacity to existing Data Centres.Helping build and bring online new Data Centres.Constantly improving all our processes and procedures. We believe there is nothing we cannot improve.Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.Liaising with internal teams & management groups.Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centres.Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of our Data Centres and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability).

Minimum RequirementsAn engineering degree or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant engineering or manufacturing operations experience, of which 3+ years in people management experience, building & managing technical teams.
Incident and Vendor management experience with Security and Health & Safety awareness.
Proven ability in driving and managing metrics/KPIs with a high degree of organization and detail-orientation.
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Suite (MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint).
Network build planning and budgetary experience.
Proven track record of success in delivering complex projects.
Ability to translate client requirements into technical specifications.
Familiarity with Data Centre server rack and network infrastructure.
