It was formed in response to a national cancer strategy which advocated for a comprehensive cancer control programme.
Today, the NSS is part of the Health Service Executive (HSE).

DescriptionAbout us The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast and bowel screening and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.

About the role: You will work as part of The National Diabetic Retinal Screening Programme based in our Central office (Dublin) and be involved in both team and independent working across a variety of projects.
Responsibilities: Work with the Programme Manager and extended DRS team in DRS to provide administrative services that ensure strict governance of the Diabetic RetinaScreen functions.Liaise with screening providers to ensure all activity standards are maintained.Collect, maintain and collate data pertaining to the National Diabetic RetinaScreen Programme, upholding data standards and integrity.Support the operational team with the management of Quality Assurance standards for the Diabetic RetinaScreen Programme.Assist in responding to and managing screening participant complaints in accordance with national policy.Provide support by assisting with organisation and minute taking of management and operational meetings.Assist in responding to and managing enquiries from service users, the public and external stakeholders.Assist the Programme Manager in the management and reporting of Key Performance Indicators as set out in the QA standards.Ensure the timely provision of accurate data/information consistent with the monitoring of service delivery and to manage capacity in line with budget availability.Review, validate and manage cost information and ensure stakeholders are remunerated in line with agreed service levels.Work to assist the strategic plan for the programme.To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service.Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards and other standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc., and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards.Please refer to the job description for detailed responsibilities Join our team and we'll provide you with the support you need to deliver and succeed.
