BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – SOUTHERN REGION The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.
Applications are invited for the following post Basic Grade Occupational Therapist Ref: 42/2024 Permanent Full-Time (35 hours per week) Location: Adult Services, Cork JOB SUMMARY The person appointed to this post will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering a coordinated approach to adults with intellectual disabilities, under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Manager, and in close cooperation with frontline colleagues. People are supported in various settings including residential homes, community houses, family homes, day services, respite services and supported community living.
The successful candidate will provide services in a variety of these settings. The professional reporting relationship for clinical governance and clinical supervision will be to the Occupational Therapy Manager through the professional line management structure.
Clinical supervision may be provided by a senior occupational therapist.
The therapist will ultimately be responsible to the Director of Services (Ms. Una Nagle). The therapist will treat each person with a disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person. The Candidate: 1.
Statutory Registration, Professional Qualification, Experience etc. Candidates for appointment must: Be registered or be eligible for registration, as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapists Board at CORU (https://www.coru.ie/) AND Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office AND Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapist Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. Applicants who have not yet obtained their CORU registration, may be given the opportunity to start in post as an Assistant Therapist for the period of time it takes for their registration to come through. 2.
Annual registration Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND Confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of annual Safety Assurance Certificate 3.
Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Experience 1.
A minimum of one year's experience working as a qualified occupational therapist is desirable. 2.
Experience of working with people with intellectuals disabilities is desirable. Driving Licence: Have a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish Roads with means of transport
Salary Scale: €43,122 - €61,916 per annum (1/10/24 Consolidated Scales)
