To work proactively with the Health & Safety Director & Divisional Director to establish, maintain and promote a positive health & safety culture across the business.
The post holder will be instrumental for assisting delivery of health, safety, quality and environmental excellence in keeping with the company's strategic objectives and legal compliance targets.
Responsible for ensuring our integrated management system is in keeping with industry requirements, contract specifications / compliance and provide supporting in their effective implementation across staff and field teams alike.Role and Responsibilities:• Provide professional advice on all matter's health, safety, quality, environmental & welfare related, to company projects/sites/persons by regularly engaging & visiting Ground Control operational areas, field-based management and operatives.• Be responsible for supporting and reviewing accident/incident investigations completed by managers and leading/supporting incident investigation reviews when required.
Provide support, advice & guidance where required/directed to help with corrective actions, client & HSQE requirements.
Understand that serious incidents take precedence over all other work unless directed by Head of Health & Safety.
• Attend regular Divisional operational meetings to provide HSQE activity updates, reports, risk, safety performance reviews, highlighting trending of specific HSQE areas that need attention/focus.• Ensure scheduled internal audits/inspections & witnessed audits are undertaken as directed.
Produce a detailed report of findings, corrective actions and ensure the report is escalated to the Divisional Directors & Operational teams as appropriate.
Liaise with the Head of Health & Safety as required.
• Be instrumental in identifying, promoting and communicating best practices across the Division and Group.
Support/develop industry leading HSQE risk management preventative systems, for implementation by the Ground Control group• Ensure Ground Control meets drugs and alcohol monitoring and testing requirements in accordance with industry requirements.• Advise, coach & mentor colleagues to support the HSQE strategy & deliver outstanding HSQE performance across all divisions.• Protect people at work and help prevent injury and ill health by championing behavioural safety improvements, safe systems of work and risk management• Maintain a good understanding of current ISO standards and legal/contractual requirements, to brief divisional Directors on gaps/improvements required to ensure compliance.• Provide support/cover for other team members during holidays/absence.
Provide occasional out of hours HSQE telephone support as part of Group out of hours service, to support business needs• Be able to demonstrate and apply effective influencing skills, in ways that offers others the invitation to change their behaviour/attitude/thoughts or ways.Experience & Skills we are looking for:Have at least 5 years relevant HSQE experience associated industry.Experience of working safely within Utility worksites and to DNO standardsHave at least 3 years relevant HSQE experience in the relevant divisional activities, e.g.
: arboriculture, vegetation management, Grounds Maintenance etcFamiliar with the Republic and Northern Ireland quality, health & safety and environmental standards and be able to apply & explain the standards in an operational environmentStrong Systems & IT literacyQualifications:Hold and maintain the required in country Utility competence for attending siteHold as a minimum the NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), and membership of IOSH at Tech level or higher.Hold or be working towards a level 5/6 HSQE Competence and Chartered IOSH membership (Desirable).Have a detailed understanding of the relevant industry standards related to GC activities and risk profileHold a full, clean driving licenceHolds the relevant Safe Pass qualification.Personal Qualities:Ability to work independently and within a team collaborativelyGreat attention to detailWell organised and structured approach to workProblem solving and innovationWhat we offer:At Ground Control we believe in creating an inspirational environment , and rewarding our employees for their hard work.
