Position Description ESB Wind Operations (WO) is a division within Renewable Operations, ESB Generation & Trading which has responsibility for the management of ESB's portfolio of operational wind farms. The department currently manages 27 operational wind farms (836 MW) across ROI, NI, England and Wales. In line with the Net Zero 2040 Strategy this portfolio will continue to grow aggressively over future years through new developments and acquisitions.
ESB is seeking to appoint an O&M Safety Specialist within the ESB Wind Operations team. The O&M Safety Specialist will take the lead in ensuring Health and Safety compliance on all ESB Wind Operations sites. Initially this role will be focused on Wind Operations, but may include other Renewable Operations as the business develops.
Key Responsibilities Safety Rules Specialist for both Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and Safe System of Work (SSoW)Ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation, station, corporate and external standards, including the implementation and compliance with PGTS Technical Standards requirements.Maintain and develop Management Instructions and procedures based on riskContribute to the development and achievement of department targets in line with corporate and GT objectivesDevelop improvement plans to drive continuous improvements in Health and SafetyDrive contractor engagement and improvements in contractor management including the organisation of Wind Operations Annual Health & Safety ConferenceRepresent ESB on key Wind Energy Ireland Working GroupsDevelop and maintain policies/procedures in support of Process Safety appropriate to riskManage and maintain the Safety Management System including management of accreditation process to ISO 45001Management of safety reporting for the operational areaManagement of safety audit programmeExperience and Qualifications Minimum of 5 years similar work experienceA Third Level Qualification in Health and Safety or equivalent work experience is essential.Experience and competence in generation O&M activitiesProven track record of Safety focus and leadershipProven track record of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholdersThe successful candidate will have proved ability to lead, empower and motivate staff to achieve optimum performanceKnowledge of power plant technologies, systems and proceduresLocation The successful candidate will be based at ESB Generation and Trading Head Office in Dublin, Fitzwilliam 27.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
It will also be a requirement to travel regularly to windfarm sites in ROI, NI and GB.
