Meath Reports to : Deputy General Manager Overview The Johnstown Estate Hotel is a luxurious four-star hotel offering exceptional guest experiences, and we are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations across all departments, ensuring smooth, efficient service and that the highest standards are maintained.
Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, the Operations Manager will play a critical role in supporting the hotel's strategy to deliver excellence in customer service, profitability, and staff management.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership : Manage and oversee the daily operations of the hotel, including food and beverage, front office, housekeeping, spa, and other departments, ensuring they function efficiently and deliver high-quality guest experiences.
Guest Satisfaction : Drive a culture of customer-centric service, addressing guest feedback and complaints in a timely and effective manner to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business.
Staff Management : Lead, train, and motivate departmental managers and their teams, fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and high performance.
Budget & Financial Management : Collaborate with the Deputy General Manager to monitor and manage department budgets, control costs, and drive profitability while maintaining quality standards.
Health & Safety Compliance : Ensure all hotel operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Oversee regular safety audits and address any concerns promptly.
Service Standards : Work closely with department heads to maintain and improve service standards across the hotel, conducting regular checks and implementing best practices where necessary.
Inventory & Supplies : Oversee inventory control and purchasing to ensure that all hotel departments are adequately stocked while maintaining cost-efficiency.
Event & Conference Operations : Coordinate with the events team to ensure seamless execution of events, weddings, conferences, and other functions, aligning resources and operational plans to deliver exceptional experiences.
Quality Control : Implement and maintain quality control processes to uphold the hotel's reputation for excellence.
Sustainability Initiatives : Support and lead initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability and reducing the hotel's environmental impact.
Key Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams effectively.
Proven problem-solving ability with a focus on customer service and operational efficiency.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and delegate tasks appropriately.
Knowledge of hotel management software and systems (PMS, POS) is an advantage.
Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
Qualifications & Experience Experience in hotel operations management, preferably in a four or five-star environment.
Proven track record of successfully leading and motivating teams in a hospitality setting.
Degree or diploma in hospitality management, business, or a related field is preferred.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, financial management, and guest service excellence.
